Future marines

Just a few days ago I had one of my best friends join the U.S marines with me. My friend Lamar Powell was sworn into the marines Monday morning after passing his physical. Lamar has gone through a lot of challenges to get to where he's at today. The first thing he had to do was pass an asvab which is a knowledge test. An asvab is not an easy test to start with but consider taking it as a senior with five gym classes. You tend to forget a lot of stuff when you don't have teachers pounding knowledge into your head. Lamar failed his first time a few points short. that didn't stop him, after a few study sessions Lamar went back to retake the test and passed with flying colors. The next test he had to do was a physical. The big physical for the marines is test after test after test to make sure there's nothing wrong with you. It starts by going to a hotel for the night so you can wake up at four in the morning to eat breakfast and start a day of hell. You walk into a place called Meps so twenty different doctors can judge you. your dressed in your Sunday best cause its a job interview. you give them fingerprints and the testing begins if you pass eight hours worth of tests you can meet your recruiter afterwards get a nice stack of paper known as your contract and you are sworn in. The room you get sworn in at is a room that's indescribable its an amazing sight and its something Lamar got to do by the end of the day after passing his physical. Lamar is a brave kid with good intentions. once he passes school he will prepare for boot camp and start the ultimate transformation to become a U.S marine.

Ukraine against Russia

As a future marine I feel more compelled to learn about and understand what's going on into todays world. One of the biggest things happening right now is Ukraine verse Russia. Russia invaded the Ukraine a few weeks ago and succeeded. since then there have been firefights with rebel forces near the border of Kramatorsk.  just days ago the small rebel fleets have made a push and gained control of a few local stores and a TV station that was switched from a Russian station back to Ukraine. this attack was not a peaceful act at all considering there were 46 causalities  from street fights. most of those deaths came from Russian militia when they retreated into a trade union building that was set on fire. its not clear who set the building  on fire but Ukraine residents showed little mercy by watching the building burn with Russians inside. this incident is one of the darkest days in a long time for Russia and its people. Its events like this that made me join the marines. As times get more and more testy and this day and age becomes more and more daring, I want to be ready as a US marine to answer to the cry for help. It may be sitting at a base waiting or it may be traveling to Russia to protect the Ukraine. one thing for sure though I will be ready no matte what.
